I was called for the I-485 interview on July 20th 2009 at the Chicago office. It is employment-based India EB3 category. The officer asked for my original birth certificate. I said I do not and never had one. At the end of the interview she gave me a RFE letter that asked me to submit to her my original birth certificate in 84 days. My priority date is not current, so not GC now -- she said the same.
After a lot of hardship I obtained the birth certificate and gave the original certificate to the officer in person before the deadline. (The officer was not happy with the photocopy and kept the original).
It's more than 1 month that I responded to the RFE in person. But I did not get any mail notification about any update of my case. The online status is not saying anything.
Do I expect USCIS to let me know their decision after they review my birth certificate? Or they wouldn't inform me anything unless something is wrong there?
I am afraid as USCIS sends letters in regular 44c mail and that comes with tons of other garbage mails and it is not that unlikely that any such mail could be lost... Posts:
